What connects an Australian flutist, a Swedish guitarist and a German bassist?
Charles Davis and his two co-musicians Sven Götz and Steffen Hollenweger make, in unusual cast and with unusual instruments (for example a contra-bass-flute developed by a Viennese instrument-maker), chamber music like, acoustic, calm top-class Jazz.
As musical nomads, they are interested in connecting their various influences.
In doing so, they draw a wide bow, from contemporary Jazz, via east-European folk all the way to Arabic music.
Their performance radiates a quiet intensity, everything is transparent and clear, free of superfluous attitude, making it possible to follow the interactions of the artists and their individual instruments. It are exactly these moments which are meant by the band name “captured moments”.
