Like-mindedness is probably the momentum that defines this improviser-composer-ensemble.
The core is made up of the New York based duo with bassist Joe Fonda and pianist Michael Jefry Stevens.
On a tour in Berlin, they made acquaintance with musician Gebhard Ullmann (another 1987 SWR jazz prize bearer), together they found Conference Call.
After Mat Wilson, Gerry Hemingway and Han Bennink, the New Yorker Georg Schuller finally joins the band as drummer.
All members are exceptional instrumentalists, as well as versed composers, and thus every member contributes composition-ally to the music. The traditional role allocation of leading voice and rhythm-group is therein abolished in favor of a greater balance of voices.
